Marine is small-town Madison County at its best - village lots in the core and wide-open acreage past the edge of town, all a short drive from our Edwardsville shop. Concrete here lives or dies by freeze-thaw: a wet 40-degree afternoon followed by a 15-degree night, over and over from December to March. Every patio we pour in Marine gets compacted base, an air-entrained mix, control joints cut where the slab wants to crack, and a penetrating sealer - the four things that separate a 20-year patio from a 5-year one.
We pour across all of Marine - village-core homes, properties along Route 4, and farmsteads and acreage running east toward Alhambra. Stamped ashlar slate and wood-plank textures in warm tan and buff tones are the most requested finishes, usually colored to pick up the home's brick or siding.
The most common Marine pour we quote is a 300-400 sq ft stamped patio with a border band - often with a fire pit pad or grill pad worked into the same pour.
